 The Conservative Movement’s flagship Rabbinic School, the Jewish Theological Seminary, welcomes a new chancellor this week. Arnold Eisen takes over from Ismar Schorsch, who at his final commencement speech talked about the "malaise of Conservative Judaism," its "impoverishment," and its "grievous failure of nerve." In the Forward this week there was a discussion about the future of the Conservative Movement and what must be done to secure its future.

 The Reform Movement is in the midst of an identity crisis. According to a Jewish Week article on July 4th, guest musicians came to Kutz Camp, the Reform movement’s teen leadership camp and led a jazzed-up version of the evening prayers. One by one, 40 campers in their mid-teens got up and walked out. They wanted a more traditional service, they later explained. Recommend this article... |

 Noah Feldman Jewish communities risk shuning next generation of Jews who are products of mixed marriagesLast week the New York Times published a long essay by a Harvard Law Professor Noah Feldman. While once affiliated with Modern orthodoxy, Feldman is not religious today and is married to someone who is not Jewish. Dr. Feldman felt that because he had made a life choice his former religious community did not agree with, his previous Modern Orthodox High School, treated him differently than the rest of the alumni.

My computer now works perfectly and I am grateful. However getting here took tens of hours, more than a thousand dollars and much aggravation. It all started I bought a new computer to replace my old one which stopped working. The new computer had Microsoft’s latest operating system—Vista—on it.
After I had loaded all the software I rely on daily, strange things began to happen. I could not load my Microsoft Office programs and error messages kept popping up all over the place. First I researched for a solution on my own using the inbuilt help system on Windows Vista but was unsuccessful. Recommend this article... |
